Going-Further: Challenges Facing Us

The Korean Journal of Neurotrauma (KJNT) was first born in 2005 as the official journal of the Korean Neurotraumatol-ogy Society. It has continuously grown and expanded after the birth. Now, the KJNT has been published in English from 2014 and indexed in the PubMed/PubMed central, KoreaMed, and Synapse. And also, it has been recently featured in quality listed candidate of the National Research Foundation in Korea. It could be surely said that a lot of effort and sacrifice of the previous editor-in-chiefs, the members of the editorial committee, the reviewers. I would like to deeply express my gratitude to them. The KJNT are indexed in the global database system and the articles in the KJNT are found and accessed by anyone and at anywhere in the world. We could say that it is not just for sharing the scientific works with the Korean neurosur-geons. The journal is opened to the global world. Global experts studying the neurotrauma may have their interests in the published papers in the KJNT. Many of our society members surely want that articles in the KJNT are read and indexed more and more in the future. To accomplish it, we now choose either going-further or staying-here. The KJNT covers all basic and clinical researches related to injuries in the brain, the spine and the peripheral nerve. Currently, the representative journal in this field is the Journal of Neurotrauma (JNT). The JNT publishes lots of laboratory studies and clinical original articles. Case reports are not accepted in it. The neurotraumatologists are eager to publish their works in this journal. But, it is very hard to be accepted for publication. In the aspect of the KJNT, unfortunately, the volume of case reports is relatively high and only few papers from international authors are published. We have enough chance for going-further in the future if we overcome it. Medicine is ever-changeable science. The management for the traumatic brain injury seems to be unchanged recently. But, the steams for developing better measurement are flowing forward, especially in the laboratory fields. The researchers want to look into the molecular and cellular levels for the consequences of the brain injury. The coming solution for the brain injury may not be surgical procedure. The KJNT should be a discussion field in dealing with the coming scientific issues and facing problems in the future. The strongly promoting businesses in our academic society are neurotrauma …
